    In order to do that you need to do multiplication so for the first person to be chosen there are a total of 12 people so you start with 12 in your equation

    then you have 11 people left for the second person so your equation becomes 12x11

    there are 10 people for the third: 12x11x10

    9 for the fourth

    and 8 for the fifth

    so your equation becomes: 12x11x10x9x8 = 95,040 different groups of 5
