The original price of a stereo was reduced by 40%. The sales price was then reduced by 25%. This price was then reduced by 35%. If a stereo is now selling for $234.00, what was the original price?

    Solving the question backwards:

    Before 35% was reduced, price: (100/65) * 234 = $360

    Before 25% was reduced, price: (100/75) * 360 = $480

    Original price: (100/60) * 480 = $800
