    Let the cost of each shirt be x.

    Would assume each shirt was discounted by 3.66

    Amount to be paid for each : x - 3.66

    Total = 3 * (x - 3.66)

    3 * (x - 3.66) = 62.31

    x - 3.66 = 62.31/3

    x - 3.66 = 20.77

    x = 20.77 + 3.66

    x = 24.43

    Each shirt cost $24.43 before the discount.
