    So multiply 4 and 1/3 by 5

    4 and 1/3 times 5=4 times 5+1/3 times 5=20+5/3=20+1+2/3=21 and 2/3

    subtract

    30 and 3/4 - (21 and 2/3) = 30+3/4-21-2/3=30-21+3/4-2/3=9+3/4-2/3

convert bottom number to same number

    12

    3/4=9/12

    2/3=8/12

    9+9/12-8/12=9+1/12

the legnth that remains is 9 and 1/12 inch
