Mai had 5 candy bars. She ate half of one candy bar and decided to distribute the remaining bars between her two sisters and herself. How many candy bars did each of the three girls receive?

    Ate 1/2

    had 4 and 1/2 left

    distribute between 3 people

    4 and 1/2 divided by 3 or times 1/3

    4 and 1/2=4+1/2=8/2+1/2=9/2

    9/2 times 1/3=9/6=3/2

    each girl recieved 3/2 or 1 and 1/2 candy bar
