    The x intercept is when the line passes through the x axis, the only time that happens is when y=0

    the y intercept is when the line passes through the y axis, the only time that happens is when x=0

    so to solve for them, set the other coortinate to zero so

    x intercept is when y=0 so set y to zero and solve for x

    0-1/4x=-1/2

    -1/4x=-1/2

    multiply both sides by - 4/1

    x=2

    the x intercept is (2,0)

    the y intercept is when x=0 so set x to zero

    y-1/4 (0) = - 1/2

    y=-1/2

    the y intercept is (0,-1/2)

    the x itnercept = (2,0)

    the y intercept = (0,-1/2)
