The probability of two events that are not mutually exclusive may be calculated using the formula. in other words, the probability of or occurring is the sum of the probabilities, minus the probability that and occurred. using this formula, calculate the probability of drawing a black card or any ten on a single random draw from a standard 52-card deck.

    The steps in solving for the problem is already described above. The probability of choosing a black out of a 52-card deck is equal to 1/2 because there are 26 black cards and 26 red cards.

    The probability of picking 10 out of the 52-card deck is equal to 4/52 which can be simplified to 1/13. There are two 10 card that is black making the probability equal to 2/52 or 1/26. From the described steps, the answer would be,

    P = (1/2) + (1/13) - (1/26)

    P = 7/13
