The sales tax is 1.11 because to find a sales tax you have to multiply the price by the sales tax.

To find the sales tax you have to divide the sales tax percentage by 100 which will give you a decimal. Then, multiply the taxable price by the decimal. Forexample: 6% divided 100 eqeals 0.06. Than multiply: 18.50 times 0.06 which gives you 1.11.
