A large container holds 5 gallons of water it begins leaking at a constant rate after 10 minutes the container has 3 gallons of water left after how many minutes will the container be empty?

    In this question there are several information's of great importance. Using these information's, the required answer can be easily deduced ... Firstly it has been mentioned that the large container holds 5 gallons of water. In 10 minutes the water comes down to 3 gallons. Then

    Amount of water lost in 10 minutes = (5 - 3) gallons

    = 2 gallons

    So

    2 gallons of water is lost within a time = 10 minutres

    5 gallons of water will be lost in = (10/2) * 5

    = 5 * 5

    = 25 minutes

    So the large container will be empty in 25 minutes
