There are 65 girls and 35 boys

Let the number of boys be x

according to question, the number of girls is (2x-5)

therefor,

x + (2x-5) = 100

x+2x-5=100

3x=100+5

x=105/3

x=35

hence the number of boys is x = 35

and the number of girls is 2x-5=2*35-5

=70-5

=65.
