You find the mean of a data set by adding all of the numbers togehter, then dividing the sum by the number of numbers in the data set. For example, if my data set was 1, 2, 3 and I had to find the mean, I would add 1, 2, and 3 together (6), then divide by three because that is how many number sere in the data set. My mean would be 2.

    Work:

    3+5+8+4

    8+12

    20

    20/4=5

Final Answer: the mean is 5
