Six less than the product of 3 and a number is 4. use the variable b for the unknown number

    Six less than means - 6 the product of 3 and a number (3 times b) is four=4

    -6+3 times b=4

    pemdas

    multiplication first

    3 times b=3b

    3b-6=4

    add 6 to both sides

    3x=10

    divide both sides by 3

    x=10/3
