    Rate in walk = 2 miles/hr

    Distance by walk = x

    Rate in jog = 4 miles/hr

    Distance by jog = y

    Total distance = 3.4

    Total time = 1.2 hours

    x + y = 3.4

    x/2 + y/4 = 1.2

    if we multiply by 4

    2x + y = 4.8

    Subtract both equations

    x = 1.4 miles

    y = 2 miles

    walking time = 1.4/2

    = 0.7 hour

    walking distance = 1.4 miles

    jogging time = 2/4

    = 0.5 hour

    jogging distance = 2 miles
