    The COsine is the COmplementary trigonometric function of the sine. Remember what complementary angles are? They are angles which add up to 90º ... On the other hand, a cross product between vectors will be 0 whenever the vectors are in the same "line" (colinears), meaning either 0 angle difference, or π angle difference
