So we start the equation with 3/4 of a cup

if Mrs. Hooper wants to make 1/3 of the recipe

she will multiply 3/4 by 1/3

you multiply both the numerators (3*1)

and multiply both of the denominators (4*3)

    giving you 3/12

if you simplify by dividing by the Greatest common factor (3)

    you will get 1/4

Mrs. Hooper needs 1/4 cup of almonds for her recipe
