What is the difference between a step-up transformer and a step-down transformer?

A. A step-up transformer increases voltage and current. A step-down transformer does the opposite.

B. A step-up transformer increases current and decreases voltage. A step-down transformer does the opposite.

C. A step-up transformer increases voltage and decreases current. A step-down transformer does the opposite.

    I believe the answer is A.

    A transformer that increases voltage from primary to secondary (more secondary winding turns than primary winding turns) is called a step-up transformer. Conversely, a transformer designed to do just the opposite is called a step-down transformer.
