Which property of mercury, make it a good material To use in a thermostat

    It is liquid, it has a very low vapor pressure at the temperatures it is being used at, it does not tend to dissolve the metals it comes in contact with (when carefully chosen), it does not tend to wet the envelope all is contained in, and it is electrically conductive.
