Who explained the behavior of positively charged particles being deflected from a metal foil as the nucleus?

    This behavior was explained by Ernest Rutherford using the famous Gold Foil Experiment. Based on the observations from the experiment he deduced that deflection is caused by a positively charged region which is now known as the nucleus.
