A student places one end of an iron nail in a cup of boiling water. Eventually, the whole nail is hot. He says that the heat transferred through the nail by convection. Which of the following explains why his statement is incorrect

    The movement caused within a fluid by the tendency of hotter and therefore less dense material to rise, and colder, denser material to sink under the influence of gravity, which consequently results in transfer of heat. Thats why his statement is incorrect.
