    Laboratory thermometers are usually analog which clinical thermometers are digital. Also, clinical thermometers average your temperature before giving you the final reading. Laboratory thermometers tend to fluctuate due to environmental factors which can cause error, and so you would have to take several readings then average them yourself to get a final reading.
