When powdered iron is left exposed to the air, it rusts. explain why the mass of the rust is greater than the mass of the powdered iron?

    There is more surface area to rust even though microscopic. which is why there is more rust than iron

    Is it because the powered iron has a large surface area which means that per powdered iron there is a lot of rust which means that in the end the rust weighs more?
