    Time for the sound of thunder to reach the observer is: t=s/v where s is the path of the sound and v is the velocity of sound.

    s=7.5 km=7500 m

    v=340 m/s

    t=7500/340=22.0 s

    Time T for the light from the lightning to reach the observer is T=s/c where s is the path of the light and c is the speed of light.

    s=7500 m, the same as for the sound

    c=3*10^8 m/s

    T=7500 / (3*10^8) = 2.5*10^-5 s

    The expected time for the sound to reach the observer is t=22.0 s and the expected time for the light to reach the observer is T=2.5*10^-5 s.
