A parachutist of mass 75kg descends with an acceleration of 8 m/s2. What is the upward force exerted by the air on the parachutist?

    The upwards force should be 150 newtons.

    If mg - f = ma

    then (75) (10) - f = (75) (8)

    750 - f = 600

    f = 150

    *the acceleration of gravity is simplified to 10
