Within a kettle, the primary change taking place is the heating and boiling of water. The water, after gaining energy from the kettle, leaves the kettle through its stout and is seen as a cloud of vapors.

This change is represented within the water cycle be evaporation. Evaporation is the process within the the water cycle through which high energy water molecule leave a body of water and travel up to the atmosphere through the air in the form of water vapors.

This process is essential in adding water back to the atmosphere, after which the water precipitates back down.
