Energy from all storms comes from condensation of water vapor which releases large volumes of heat into the atmosphere. Now the energy will be the greatest when the hurricane is moving over the ocean where there is a major volume of water vapor

The main source of a hurricane's energy comes from the warm water underneath it that is generating water vapor that powers the storm.

This summer has been extra dry, which is possibly the reason why so many hurricanes formed, because the water was warmer.
