The nuclear mass of 48ti is 47.9359 amu. calculate the binding energy per nucleon for 48ti.

    Where

    m = number of protons*mass of a proton+Number of neutrons*mass of a neutron

    For 48Ti, Protons = 22, Neutrons = 26. Protons and Neutrons weigh almost equal at 1.673*10^-27 kg

    While 1 amu = 1.661*10^-27 kg

    Therefore,

    m = { (22+26) * 1.673*10^-27}-{47.9359*1.661*10^-27} = 6.8247*10^-28 kg

    c = speed of light = 3*10^8 m/s

    Then,

    Binding energy per nucleon = {6.8247*10^-28 * (3*10^8) ^2}/48 = 1.28*10^-12 J
