The amount of current in the circuit depends on the potential difference available and connected in the circuit. We need to apply ohm's law (Voltage = Resistance x Current) in analyzing this situation. If resistance is fixed value, then increasing potential difference will also increase current flow in the circuit. But, when the potential difference is fixed, increasing resistance results to decreasing resistance.
