A kid moving 3.78 m/s jumps on a slip and slide (Uk=0.111). After sliding 5.00 m, what is his velocity? Unit=m/s

    Newton's Second law of motion:

    F=ma = > a = F/m = - Uk*mg/m = - Uk*g = - 0.111*9.81 = - 1.089 m/s^2 (negative sign is because there will be deceleration).

    Laws of motion:

    v^2 = u^2 + 2ad, v = Final velocity, u = initial velocity, a = acceleration, d = distance moved.

    Therefore,

    v = Sqrt (u^2+2at) = Sqrt {3.78^2 + (-1.089*2*5) } = 1.844 m/s
