An elements atomic number is 30. How many protons would an atom of this element have?

    First of all, The number of protons is always equal to the number of electrons in a neutral atom. Since we have 30 protons and 30 electrons, the positive charge on the proton is cancelled by the negative charge on the electron leaving a neutral atom.

    Positive 30 and negative 30 equals 0.

    Therefore, that atom would have 30 protons.
