1. The "Opportunity" rover that just landed on Mars transmitted music back to Earth. If the distance to Earth at the time was 9x107 km and radio waves (a kind of "light") travel with a speed of 3x108 m/s, how long did it take for the signal to reach listeners on Earth? I do not know what formula to use

    Use the formula

    Time = (distance) / (speed)

    - - notice that the distance is given in km. Remember this when you write the speed. They should BOTH be in km it BOTH in meters.

    - - for the speed, don't get distracted by the idea of 'music'. It's being sent to us by radio, so use the speed given for light/radio.
