    7.07volts

    Explanation:

    Power generated by a load or resistor in an electric circuit is represented as P = IV ... (1) where;

    P is the power measured in watts (W)

    I is the current flowing through the resistor in amperes

    V is the maximum voltage passed across the circuit in volts

    According to ohms law V = IR; I = V/R ... (2)

    Substituting equation 2 into 1

    P = IV

    P = V/R*V

    P = V²/R

    Given the power rating = 1/4w

    Resistor = 200ohms

    V² = PR

    V² = 200*1/4

    V² = 50

    V = √50

    V = 7.07volts

    Therefore the maximum voltage that can safely be connected across it is 7.07Volts.
