What law explains a soccer ball accelerating more

than a bowling ball when thrown with the same force?

    Explanation:

    Newtons 2nd law is Fnet = ma. So for this example, let's isolate for a;

    Fnet = ma

    a = Fnet / m.

    From this relationship, we can see if the mass increases, the acceleration decreases, and if the mass decreases, the acceleration increases (with same force).

    So for the bowling ball, we'll give an equal force of 1N, and lets say the mass is 10kg (for example use).

    a = 1 / 10

    a = 0.1

    Now lets do the same for the soccer ball, but lets decrease its mass to 2 kg, and have the same force of 1N;

    a = 1 / 2

    a = 0.5

    Clearly we can see the soccer ball accelerates more than the bowling ball, as it has a smaller mass, so more acceleration.
