The absorption values for 1 mm of pyrex at 320 nm and 280 nm are 0.15 and 1.3respectively. What are the percent transmissions for 1 mm of Pyrex at these wavelengths

    At 280 nm, %T = 5.01 %

    Explanation:

    The absorption values and the percent transmission is linked with the expression bellow;

    A = 2 - log %T

    Where A is the Absorption value = 0.15 and 1.3 respectively;

    %T is the percent transmission.

    At 320 nm, A = 0.15

    0.15 = 2 - log T

    Log T = 2-0.15

    Log T = 1.85

    T = Anti log 1.85

    T = 70.79 %

    Therefore the percent transmission at 230 nm is 70.79 %

    At 280 nm A = 1.3

    1.3 = 2 - log T

    Log T = 2 - 1.3

    Log T = 0.7

    T = anti log 0.7

    T = 5.01 %

    Therefore the percent transmission at 280 nm is 5.01 %
