An eagle is flying due east, in level flight, at a speed of 8.9 m/s while carrying a gopher in its talons. The gopher manages to break free at a height of 12 m above the ground. What is the magnitude of the gopher's velocity just as it reaches the ground? Neglect air resistance

    = 18 m/s

    Explanation:

    v² = u² + 2gh

    = 8.9² + 2 * 9.81 * 12

    v = 17.74 m/s

    = 18 m/s
