Starting from rest, an intern pushes a 48-kg gurney 20 m down the hall with a constant force of 80 N directed downward at an angle of 35∘ with respect to the horizontal. Ignore friction. How much time elapses during the 20-m journey? Express your answer with the appropriate units.

    The time elapses is

    t = 2.70 s

    Explanation:

    The axis x' is the only one influence the work so

    work = F*cosΘ*d

    W = 80N * cos (35º) * 20m

    W = 1310.64 J

    work = ΔKE

    1310.64 J = ½ * 48kg * v²

    Solve to v

    v = 7.39m/s

    t = d / Vavg

    t = 20m / 7.39 m/s

    t = 2.70 s
