The electroscope is an apparatus used to detect electric charge. The electroscope consists of a plate, a support and a free to rotate needle all made of metal. After rubbing a balloon on your sleeve, the balloon is brought near to the metallic plate of an electroscope. As a result, the needle of the electroscope deflects. The sign of the electric charge on the needle of the electroscope is:
