Explanation:

In dividing to 8 cubes the side of a cube will be 2 cm.

It can be taken by volume as

4*4*4 = 8 * (l*l*l) where l = length of the cube required.

So surface area of a small cube is 6 * (2*2) = 24 cm²

Six such cubes will have a surface area of 144 cm²
