A robot fires a yellow 7" foam ball at an angle of 35° above the horizontal and a speed of 14m/s.

How long is the ball in the air (ignore air resistance) ?

    Answer: 1.62 s

    Explanation: First find the y component of the velocity given with respect to its angle.

    Vy = v (sin angle)

    = 14 m/s (sin 35)

    = 7.98 m/s

    To solve for time we use a=vf-vi/t

    0-7.98 / 9.8 m/s² = 0.81s

    0.81s is the time needed to reach its max. height so to find the total time we will multiply it by 2

    0.81 s x 2 = 1.62 s
