How much work is done by pressure in forcing 9.1 m3 of water through a pipe having an internal diameter of 15 mm if the difference in pressure at the two ends of the pipe is 2.2 atm

    Explanation:

    v = 9.1 cubic metre

    Pressure difference, ΔP = 2.2 atm = 2.2 x 101000 Pa = 222200 Pa

    Work done by the force in moving a distance when the distance and the force is in the same direction is given by

    W = F x d

    Here force is defined as

    Force = Pressure difference x Area

    So, W = ΔP x A x d

    Here, A x d is the volume, so, the work done is

    W = ΔP x V = 222200 x 9.1 = 2022020 J
