To lift a car, you use a hydraulic lift filled with a fluid that has density of 1 1200 kg/m3. The radius of one half of the lift is 0.5 meters and the diameter of the other half of the lift is 2.5 meters. Before you put a mas of 200 kg on the smaller piston, the heights of each piston are the same. If the car weighs 2200 kg, how high will it be raised?

    density of fluid = 11200 kg/m^3

    r = 0.5 m

    R = 2.5 / 2 = 1.25 m

    m = 200 kg

    f = 200 x 10 = 2000 N

    M = 2200 kg

    F = 2200 x 10 = 22000 N

    a = 3.14 x r^2 = 3.14 x 0.5 x 0.5 = 0.785 m^2

    A = 3.14 x R^2 = 3.14 x 1.25 x 1.25 = 4.9 m^2

    P1 = f / a = 2000 / 0.785 = 254.77 Pa

    P2 = F / A = 22000 / 4.9 = 4489.8 Pa

    Let h be the difference in height in both the cylinders

    h x density x g = P2 - P1

    h x 11200 x 10 = 4489.8 - 254.77

    h = 0.038 m = 3.8 cm
