    Mechanical advantage is a measure of the force amplification achieved by using a machine.

    Actual mechanical advantage is the ratio of the output force to the ratio of input force, and will always be less than the ideal mechanical advantage. Ideal mechanical advantage has no friction unlike the actual mechanical advantage which takes friction into consideration.
