    6.3 m/s²

    Explanation:

    m = mass of the skydiver = 80.0 kg

    k = constant

    v = speed at any time

    a = acceleration

    W = weight = mg = 80 x 9.8 = 784 N

    Force equation for the motion of skydiver is given as

    W - k v² = ma

    at v = 50 m/s, a = 0

    784 - k (50) ² = (80) (0)

    k = 0.3136

    At v = 30 m/s, equation can be written as

    W - k v² = ma

    784 - (0.3136) (30) ² = 80 a

    a = 6.3 m/s²
