The total pressure in an 11.4 L automobile tire is 45.0 psi at 16.0 ∘C. How much does the pressure in the tire rise if it warms to a temperature of 39.0 ∘C and the volume remains at 11.4 L

    Explanation:

    V1 = 11.4 L, P1 = 45 psi, T1 = 16 degree C = 16 + 273 = 289 K

    T2 = 39 degree C = 39 + 273 = 312 K

    Volume remains constant

    Use P1 / T1 = P2 / T2

    As the volume is constant, let the pressure is P2.

    45 / 289 = P2 / 312

    P2 = 45 x 312 / 289 = 48.58 psi
