    The are both moving at the same speed

    Explanation:

    Given the following:

    Tom = 2.4km in 20 minutes

    Max = 3.6km in 30 minutes

    To calculate the rider moving at a faster spedd, we need to calculate the speed of each rider.

    Speed = distance / time

    Tom's speed:

    Distance = 2.4km = 2.4 * 1000 = 2400meters

    Time = 20 minutes = 20 * 60 = 1200 seconds

    Speed = (2400 / 1200) = 2 meter per second

    Max's speed:

    Distance = 3.6km = 3.6 * 1000 = 3600meters

    Time = 30 minutes = 30 * 60 = 1800 seconds

    Speed = (3600 / 1800) = 2 meter per second

    Both Tom and Max are riding at the same speed (rate)
