Explanation: Plate tectonic theory is a scientific model according to which lithosphere (crust+upper mantle) is broken into seven major and many minor plates and these plates float over asthenosphere. According to plate tectonics theory oceanic plates are thinner and made up of silicon and magnesium whereas continental plate is thicker and made up of silicon and aluminium. These plates form three types of boundaries - convergent, divergent and transform. The ring of fire, subduction zones and seafloor spreading are the evidences of plate tectonics theory.
