A 3.0 N force and a 5.0 N force are acting in opposite directions on the same 5.0 kg ball. What is the magnitude of the acceleration of the ball?

    To find the magnitude,

    F = ma

    Here the total force = 5 - 3 = 2N because the two forces are acting in opposite directions.

    2 = 5a

    2/5 = a

    0.4 m/s^2 = a
