Calculate the speed of a 15.5 kg object which has 250 J of energy.

    = 5.68 m/s

    Explanation; From the law of conservation of energy, energy is neither created nor destroyed but can be transformed to different forms. Therefore when a body is a t rest is has potential energy which is converted to kinetic energy when it starts moving at a certain speed.

    Kinetic energy = 1/2 mv², where m is the mass and v is the velocity.

    K. E = 1/2 mv²

    250 J = 1/2 * 15.5 * v²

    v² = (250 * 2) / 15.5

    v² = 32.2581

    v = 5.6796

    ≈ 5.68 m/s
