    Volume = 40 cm³

    Explanation:

    Density = Mass / Volume ... (1)

    If Density = 0.5 g/cm³

    and Volume = 80 cm³

    Substituting these values into equation (1) to get the mass

    0.5 = Mass/80

    Mass = 0.5 * 80

    Mass = 40 g

    Now if density = 1 g/cm³

    The mass of the wood remains constant, therefore, Mass = 40 g

    Again to get the volume put the values for mass and volume into equation (1)

    1 = 40/volume

    Volume = 40/1

    Volume = 40 cm³
