    Formula for momentum: p = mv

    p = momentum

    m = mass

    v = velocity

    A 5 kg rock is thrown at 4 m/s.

    mass (m) = 5

    velocity (v) = 4

    Solve for the momentum.

    p = 5 * 4

    p = 20

    A 2 kg toy car is traveling at 10 m/s.

    mass (m) = 2

    velocity (v) = 10

    p = 2 * 10

    p = 20

    Therefore, both have the same momnetum.

    Neither has. Their momenta are equal.

    Momentum = (mass) • (speed)

    Rock: Momentum = (5) • (4) = 20

    Car: Momentum = (2) • (10) = 20
