    Explanation:

    First calculate the power

    Power = VI

    V = voltage 12v

    I = current 500mA

    = 500 x 10^-3 A

    Power = 12 x 500 x 10^-3

    = 12 x 0.5

    = 6 watts

    Now

    Power = work/time

    Given work/energy = 100J

    We have

    6 = 100/time

    Cross multiply

    6 x time = 100

    Divide both sides by 6

    6/6 x time = 100/6

    time = 16.67 secs
